DETROIT (9-2-2024) -- Graduate student Erica Toupin scored both goals while senior goalkeeper Chantelle Symes earned her first career shutout in a Titan uniform as Detroit Mercy earned a 2-0 victory over Madonna on Labor Day Monday afternoon at Titan Field.

The game was scoreless until Toupin put the Titans ahead 1-0 in the 44th minute. She then added an insurance tally late in the second half in the 84th minute to secure UDM's first win of the season. 

The Titans (1-5) held the Crusaders (1-2) to just two shots, as Madonna struggled to break through the UDM defense. Meanwhile, the home squad registered a season-high 28 shots and 12 corner kicks.

Detroit Mercy will continue its five-game home stand on Thursday against Chicago State at 3:00 p.m. on ESPN+
