PORT CLINTON, Ohio (9/30/2024) – Sophomore
Gabriella Tapp paced the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team at Toledo's Rocket Classic on Monday.
The Titans sit seventh in the team standings after 36 holes with a total score of 636 (323-313) at the par-72, 5,979-yard Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Ohio.
Tapp ended the day in a tie for 13th place after tallying a 78 in round one, before improving on her score in round two with a career-tying 2-over 74. Overall, Tapp posted a 36-hole score of 152, just five shots off the lead, knocking in 22 pars with four birdies.
Junior
Taylor Kondel sits two strokes behind Tapp and in a tie for 19th place with a score of 154 (82-72). Kondel had just seven pars and a birdie in the morning, but came back with a career-tying even-par 72 in the afternoon, posting 11 pars, two birdies and an eagle on the par 5, 11th hole.
Freshman
Emma McKinley is tied for 27th with a 158 (77-81), while freshman
Morgan Jones closed the scoring in 52nd place with a 172 (86-86).
