BIRMINGHAM, Mich. (10/13/2025) -- University of Detroit Mercy women's golf freshmen Sadie Kondel and Ava Wisinski earned big wins as the Titans began the Motor City Match-Up on Monday.
Detroit Mercy dropped a close decision, 3.5-2.5, to Green Bay in the opening round at the par-72, 5,897-yard Birmingham Country Club in Birmingham, Michigan.
Kondel won her match, 5 & 4, as she took a big lead early and never looked back. After halving the first two holes, she won the next three and led by four after nine holes. Green Bay got two strokes back, but Kondel put the contest away, winning the next three holes for the biggest win on the day by UDM.
Wisinski won her affair, 4 & 3. She lost the first hole, but quickly got back to even on the next one. After three halved holes, she took control, winning three of the next four to go up by three through nine, and eventually sealed away the victory on the 15th hole.
Junior Gabriella Tapp got a half point for Detroit Mercy as she battled her way to a tie in a contest that saw neither golfer ever lead by more than one hole.
Sophomore Morgan Jones also competed in her match as she was down by two, but tied it up with a couple of holes to go before falling by one.
Detroit Mercy will close the event on Tuesday against Chicago State, with tee times set for 10:00 a.m.
