WINDSOR, Ont. (1/11/2025) -- Freshman
James Wallace continued the strong start to his indoor season on Saturday for the Detroit Mercy men's track and field team with a runner-up finish in the 60-meter dash at the 42nd Annual Can-Am Classic hosted by Windsor University.
Wallace ran a time of 6.80 seconds in the final, the third-fastest 60-meter dash time in school history.
Senior
Cody Bartlett earned a top-eight finish for the Titans with his seventh-place finish in the high jump event with a leap of 1.96-meters.
In some rarely contested events, freshman
Blake Shaya led the way in the 300-meter dash with an 18th-place finish and a time of 36.55 seconds. Junior
Jaden McKenzie was 17th in the 600m in 1:24.59 and senior
Ashwin Philip was 24th in the 1000m, clocking 2:38.43.
UDM closed the two-day meet with the 4x400-meter relay as the quartet of McKenzie and sophomores
Nicholas Johnson,
Joshua Neary, and
Mike Ferguson crossed the line in seventh place with a time of 3:30.29.
The Titans will be back in action next Friday at the SVSU Classic, with competition set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
