DETROIT (2-23-25) – Freshman Sophia Baez secured nine wins in team sabre competition and seven more, advancing in singles pool play and finishing 13th to lead the Detroit Mercy women's fencing team at 2025 Central Collegiate Fencing Championships hosted by Wayne State at the Matthaei Center. On the men's side, sophomore Arturo Rangel recorded five wins, advancing in singles pool play to finish 11th.
 
• Baez and sophomore Sophia Miller each went 3-0 to secure a 6-2 win in the sabre team competition over cross-town Wayne State.
• Miller secured six wins in the sabre team competition.
• Sophomore Nathan Mysiorek posted six wins to lead the men's side in the sabre team competition.
• Freshman Phillip Hunter recorded two wins in the foil and two more in the epee team competition.
