Madeline Hallman went 1-for-1 with a double, while junior
Jenna Holt hit 1-for-2 as Detroit Mercy dropped an 8-0 decision at Cleveland State in #HLSB series opening action on Thursday afternoon at Viking Field.
Recap:
• The game started as a pitcher's duel as neither team could plate a run in the first two innings
• With two outs in the top of the third inning, Hallman doubled to left field. Holt then singled to left field and Hallman tried to score from second base but was thrown out at the plate ending the threat for the Titans (5-20, 2-5 HL).
• CSU (13-14, 8-2 HL) took advantage, scoring four runs in the bottom half, with two unearned.
• UDM was retired in order in the fourth inning
• The Vikings closed the game by scoring four more runs off a two-run triple and two-run double in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Detroit Mercy and Cleveland State will close out the series with a doubleheader on Friday, Apr. 4. at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on ESPN+.
