DETROIT (4/30/2025) -- The retooling of the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team has seen its eighth recruit commit as
Ayden Carter (Fremont, Ohio/Fremont Ross/Walsh) announced his transfer to Six Mile and Livernois.
Carter - 6'5, 200-LB - spent the last two years at Walsh University, where he played in 50 games and tallied 11.2 points and 4.3 rebounds, shooting 46.2% from the field and 80.4% at the free-throw line.
"Ayden is a versatile forward who can score by attacking the rim as well as handle the basketball," said head coach
Mark Montgomery. "He made great improvements from his freshman to sophomore year, and we are looking for him to keep working hard and honing his skills."
He was on a team that won the G-MAC and made the NCAA Tournament as a freshman, playing in all 30 games and averaging 6.0 points and 3.4 rebounds. As a sophomore, he led the squad at 19.0 points, was second with 5.7 rebounds, and third with 1.7 assists. He scored in double figures in 19 of his 20 games, netting eight 20-point games, including a career-high 34 points and 12 rebounds against Northwood. He also grabbed at least five rebounds in 12 contests.
As a prep at Freemont Ross, he averaged 23.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as a senior, leading the conference in scoring. He was named First Team All-Trac, First Team Blade, All-Ohio Honor, All-News Messenger and to the BSCN Team. He ended his high school career scoring over 1,000 points.
