Betsey Walkowiak Named To NCAA Committee on Access, Opportunity and Impact

INDIANAPOLIS (6/16/2025) -- Newly promoted Director of Student-Athlete Services Betsey Walkowiak will have a little more on her plate as she was appointed to serve on the NCAA Committee on Access, Opportunity and Impact.

The NCAA formed the Association-wide Committee on Access, Opportunity and Impact by consolidating four groups – the Committee on Women's Athletics, Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee, Board of Governors Committee to Promote Cultural Diversity and Equity, and the Gender Equity Task Force – into a single entity aimed at improving efficiency and maximizing impact. This restructure stems from a recommendation made in August 2024 by the NCAA DEI Committees Review Working Group and aligns with the Board of Governors' broader 2022 review of Association-wide committees.  The new committee will focus on creating equitable and inclusive experiences for student-athletes at championships and across college sports, advising on related NCAA policies, and supporting increased participation and leadership opportunities for student-athletes from underrepresented communities.

"I am honored to serve on the newly formed NCAA committee that is focused on promoting equity and inclusion within collegiate athletics," said Walkowiak. "This committee plays a critical role in shaping championship experiences, advising on related NCAA policies, and advancing opportunities for student-athlete participation and leadership. I remain strongly committed to the growth and visibility of women's sports and look forward to continuing my advocacy to elevate female athletes across all levels of competition."

Walkowiak came to the Athletic Department last summer as an Academic and Compliance Coordinator and was promoted to Director of Student-Athlete Services in early June.

She recently served on the NCAA's Committee on Women's Athletics.

A native of Clarkston, Michigan, Walkowiak was a four-year letterwinner in swimming and diving at Green Bay, earning All-Academic honors as a senior. As a student-athlete, she was a member of the Phoenix and Horizon League's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), serving as the Social Media Chair this past season as a senior. She was a part of the Horizon League Council, serving as the Student-Athlete Representative and on the Student-Athlete Safety and Health and OneHL, Diversity and Inclusion Committees.
