ROCHESTER, Mich. (9/13/2025) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team got its season started with the first two rounds of Oakland's Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate on Saturday.
The Titans stand 10th through 36 holes with a 600 (303-297) at the par-72, 7,273-yard Katke-Cousins Golf Course.
Freshman
Peyton Lawley leads the Titans and is just outside the top 20, sharing 21st with a 147 (73-74), just four shots out of the top 10. Lawley started his collegiate career with four-straight pars and ended his first round with six pars and two birdies in his final nine holes for a 1-over 73. In the afternoon, the rookie got off to another fast start with six pars and two birdies and was one under through 14 holes until finishing with a 2-over 74.
Junior
Gowtham Nalluri shares 29th place with a 148 (76-72). He had nine pars and two birdies in round one and then had the best round of the day for the red, white and blue carding an even-par 72, knocking in eight pars and five birdies.
Junior
David Swab is tied for 48th with a 153 (76-77) as he recorded 20 pars and three birdies. Junior
Mason Sokolowski tallied a 154 (80-74) for 52nd, finishing with four birdies and eight pars in round two, and redshirt sophomore
Ethan Oblak posted a 156 (78-78) and is tied for 62nd.
The final round of the event will tee off at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow.
