Pizzo Sets Career Mark In 1,500 Meters In Day One Of Elaine Leigh Track & Field Invite

Graduate senior Nina Pizzo moved her name to 10th in school history in the 1,500 meters.

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (4/17/2026) -- Graduate senior Nina Pizzo tallied a career and top-10 mark as the University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team opened the Elaine Leigh Track & Field Invitational at Oakland on Friday.

Pizzo led three harriers in setting personal records in the 1,500 meters, finishing third in 4:43.35, 10th in school history. Sophomore Ana Lopez was eighth with a career time of 4:48.04, while junior Alaina Burns took 14th in a PR of 4:57.92.

Sophomore Aubrey Mery came through with a huge career run, clocking 18:03.6 for third, while sophomore Kirsten Koss was just behind her in fourth at 18:15.08 in her event debut.

Freshman Abigail Mullings earned eighth in the long jump with a mark of 5.09 meters, while senior Jada Clark claimed ninth in a career-best 4.93m.

Junior Grace Steffes was 10th in the hammer at 40.89m and 11th in the javelin with a throw of 23.03m.

Day two of the meet is set to begin tomorrow at Noon.
