INDIANAPOLIS – Detroit Mercy softball student-athletes
Claire Borg and
Jada Davis were named to the 2026 Valeo® Horizon League Softball All-Academic Team as voted on by each member institution's Faculty Athletics Representative and announced by the league office.
Borg Highlights:
• Borg, a junior from St. Clair, Mich., holds a 3.97 GPA in Business Administration and is a two-time Horizon League Honor Roll selection and two-time Detroit Mercy Athletic Director Honor Roll selection.
• Ranked second on the team in home runs (2) and slugging percentage (.515), third in batting average (.303), with 10 hits, nine RBI, one double, and three runs with 17 total bases.
• One of two players who posted five RBI in a game with a three-run double and the go-ahead two-run homer vs IU Indy.
• Recorded a hit in eight of nine games played (IU Indy 4/3 – Oakland (4/18).
Davis Highlights:
• Davis, a junior from Richwood, Ohio, holds a 3.36 GPA in Criminal Justice and is a two-time Horizon League Honor Roll selection and two-time Detroit Mercy Athletic Director Honor Roll selection.
• 2025 #HLSB All-League Second Team selection.
• Leads the team in hits (35), doubles (7), triples (2), multi-hit games (9), walks (16), and total bases (46), ranks third in batting average (.285) and runs (22), and fourth in RBI (15) and slugging percentage (.374).
• Also posted a team-best nine-game hitting streak - (4/3 IU Indy – 4/14 at Oakland).
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, have earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests or 20 percent of overall contests for pitchers. An Honorable Mention is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of the votes but did not make the All-Academic team.
