Titans Break School Record, Wisinski Ties Titan Tournament Mark

Sophomore Ava Wisinski tied a school record with a 220 at the NKU Fall Invite.
FLORENCE, Ind. (9/29/2026) -- It was a record-breaking day out on the links for the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team as the Titans set a new team and individual mark at the NKU Fall Invitational on Tuesday.

Detroit Mercy posted a 917 (309-304-304) for fifth place at the par-71, 5,923-yard Belterra Golf Club in Florence, Indiana. The 917 broke the school mark of 920 set by the 2013 squad at the Horizon League Championship, while the 304 in the second and third rounds is tied for the 14th-best rounds in school history and the best since a 299 at the EMU Shirley Spork Invitational in 2021.

Meanwhile, sophomore Ava Wisinski finished what she started as she tied the Titan 54-hole record with a 220 (73-77-70), ending the day with a career-low 1-under 70, for eighth overall. She now shares the record with former All-League performer Sarah Thompson, who carded a 220 at the 2016 NKU Fall Classic.

Wisinski started the tournament with a 2-over 73 and then had a 77 in round two - which was split into two days due to darkness - before her career-low 70. She started the final round with a birdie and had three birdies and 13 pars when it was all said and done.

She led the team and was tied for third in the competition with nine birdies as well as tied for 15th with 33 pars. She also tied for second on the course's par 3s with a 1-under 2.92 average and tied for ninth on the par 4s with a +7, 4.21 mark.

Sophomore Sadie Kondel recorded a huge career mark as she was tied for 17th with a 229 (79-72-78), tied for 13th in school history, besting her previous mark by 13 strokes. She posted a career-low 1-over 72 in round two, knocking in three birdies and 13 pars, and then ended the event with a 78 for her second career top-20 finish.

Senior Gabriella Tapp was just outside the top 20 as she shared 26th with a 233 (77-77-79), three shots shy of her personal record, while sophomore Morgan Jones placed 41st with a 237 (81-78-78), also three strokes short of her PR.

As a team, the Titans had 27 birdies and 145 pars, both fifth in the event, and were second on the par 4s with a 4.34 average.

Detroit Mercy will now get ready for the Butler Invitational next Tuesday, Oct. 5-6, at the Highland Country Club in Indianapolis, Indiana.
