Biography

2008-09
A fourth-year walk-on who saw action in a career-high 23 games with one start…Averaged 2.0 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game…Started his first and only game of his career on Senior Day against Milwaukee…Netted a career high 14 points, including a personal best 6-of-6 effort from the free throw line, in just 17 minutes of action against Central Michigan… Scored his first points of the season with a 3-pointer and a free throw against Aquinas…Tied his collegiate high with 20 minutes of court time at Bowling Green…Was honored with the Larry Doyle Most Dedicated Titan accolade as well as the recipient of the Horizon League Sportsmanship Award.

2007-08
Played in 12 games last season, including the final seven contests of the year while Payne was out with an injury… Recorded a career day with 11 points, on 3-of-4 shooting and 2-for-3 from behind the arc, to go with two assists in a personal-best 20 minutes of action against Bowling Green on Bracket Buster Saturday… Netted his first points of the season with his first collegiate field goal at nationally-ranked Texas A&M… Was honored with the William Ebben Academic and Athletic Excellence Award at the annual men’s basketball banquet… Also received the 2008 Larry Bleach Award for excellence in strength and conditioning...

AS A TITAN
Saw action in five contests as a sophomore… Saw a season-high four minutes of court time against Eastern Michigan… Recorded his first college blocked shot in that contest as well… Broke into the scoring column by going 1-for-2 from the free throw line at Xavier… Also picked up a steal against XU… Appeared in seven games in 2005-06 as a freshman and garnered 15 minutes of court time… Saw his most action that year, six minutes, in Detroit’s season-opening victory over Rochester College… Scored his first college point in that contest by splitting a pair of free throws late in the game…

PERSONAL
Played basketball at Rogers High School under coach Trevor Chalmers… Averaged 11.8 points per game as a senior and was an All-OK Blue Conference honoree at season’s end as his team won the conference championship… Was an all-conference selection in cross country and track and field as well… As a middle distance runner on the track, helped his team to an OK Blue championship in the 4x800 meter relay… Ran a 4:31 mile during his prep career… Enjoys reading and listening to music in his spare time… Admires former Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan for the ex-NBA great’s work ethic as well as his charisma both on and off the court… Hartfield’s father, Eric, ran track at Eastern Michigan during his college days… A former high school teammate, Ryan Morlock, went on to play basketball at Aquinas… After originally thinking about a career in dentistry, Hartfield decided to major in Secondary Education at UDM...
