Biography
2014-15: Fourth on the team with nine singles wins, mostly at No. 3... Went 4-2 in the regular season in the HL, including 3-2 at No. 3 and 1-0 at No. 4… Added six wins in doubles with four wins at No. 3... Defeated Green Bay’s Florian Kraenzler, 7-6 (4), 6-1, at No. 4... Beat Youngstown State’s Bassem El Mekawi, 6-3, 6-3, and Wright State’s Simon Cote, 6-2, 6-1, as well as UIC’s Louis Theodor, 2-1, retired... Had a strong win against Michael Fredericka of No. 36 Notre Dame, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (6), at No. 3... Earned a 5-2 overall record with a 3-1 mark in singles and a 2-1 ledger in doubles in the fall… Cruised to a pair of singles wins at the Titan Invitational taking out Tyler Bridges of Ferris State, 6-1, 6-0, and Mohamed Fazyl Kechai of Wayne State, 6-1, 6-1… Also teamed with Nathan Ponton for an 8-7 (5) triumph against FSU’s Galarneau and Zachary Grabovic, and an 8-2 decision over the Warriors’ Trey Keating and Luke Ruocco… Put in a great effort in the opening round of qualifying singles at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships as he was edged by Notre Dame’s Brendon Kempin, 6-1, 4-6, 4-6, before defeating Cleveland State’s Mirko Radosevic, 6-3, 6-3, in the consolation round.
2013-14: Tied for the team lead with 11 singles wins and three in Horizon League action… Played mostly at the No. 4 and No. 3 spot in the line-up… Also had two more wins in doubles… Started the year with three straight wins in the fall, including a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 tally over UIC’s Maurizio Feoli in the ITA Midwest Regional Qualifying Round… Had three set wins over Corey Robinson of Duquesne 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 – which was the match clincher – and Szymon Opieczonek of Southern Illinois, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3… Took out Toledo’s Garrett Cona, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1… A great three-set win over Youngstown State’s Max Schmerin at No. 4, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 10-6… Scored a straight-set 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Valparaiso’s Michael Savaglio and then beat UIC’s Carl Hedstorm, 6-4, 0-6, 10-3, at No. 4… Teamed with Chance Conley for a 6-2 victory at No. 2 over Rafael Cuadrillero and Filip Aleksic of Southern Illinois… A member of the Detroit Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and the UDM Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
2012-13: He was tied for the team-led for the most singles wins with a 12-8 record and a 3-3 mark in conference play… he finished the year with a 3-6 record In doubles that included a pair of wins the Horizon League… earned his first singles win against TCU (1/19) at sixth singles… Followed that with a win against Toledo (1/20) at fifth singles… Won four straight singles matches against Grand Valley (2/1), Wayne State (2/2), Dayton, Duquesne (3/1) and Bentley (3/10)… He also earned his first doubles win against Bentley at third doubles… He earned his first HL victory at third doubles against Youngstown State (3/23)… He earned his first conference win in singles play against Wright State (3/30) and followed that with wins at UIC (4/6) and at Valpo (4/7)… He also earned a tie-break doubles match at Valparaiso… Earned two non-conference wins at IUPUI (4/13) and at IPFW (4/14).
Prior to Detroit: Has been ranked by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) as high as 306 and currently holds a rank of 588... Won the III Arabe Internacional Cup in 2011 and made the quarterfinals in both the Panama Bowl (2012) and the Goombay Splash Bowl (2011).
