Junior lefthander
Jill Perry (Ortonville, MI/Brandon) picked up a pair of victories on Saturday as the Titan softball squad hosted an exhibition doubleheader against Michigan-Dearborn at Buysse Ballpark.
The games marked Detroit's lone home contests against outside varsity competition this fall.
Perry went the distance in Game 1 for a 6-2 victory, then came on in relief to pick up the win in the second contest.
And the Titans had to rally for the latter victory. They trailed 9-7 entering the seventh inning, then sent the game into extra frames as they got back-to-back solo home runs from
Kristin Sclater (Taylor, MI/Kennedy) - her third round tripper of the day - and
Courtney Gill (Surrey, B.C./Earl Marriott). That knotted the game at 9-all.
The Titans finally prevailed in 11 innings by a 10-9 count as freshman
Renee Zaccagni (Macomb, MI/Dakota) singled in
Breana Sesoko (Anaheim Hills, CA/Canyon) with the winning run.
The Titans closed out their fall schedule on Sunday in East Lansing, dropping a 9-1 decision to Michigan State and also falling to Wayne State, 6-5. The latter game took nine innings. The Titans will be now be idle until February.
