The University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team will host the Titan Invitational at the Western Golf and Country Club in Redford, MI, on Oct. 6-7, with each day beginning at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.

The four teams competing in the third annual Titan Invitational are Dayton, Detroit, Ferris State and Youngstown State.

Last season, UDM finished fourth with a 36-hole score of 666, while Oakland University won for the second year in a row (641). Two of this year's participating schools competed in this event in 2007 in Dayton (654) and YSU (657) which placed second and third, respectively. Cleveland State fired off a team score of 707 to place fifth, while Green Bay finished sixth (753).

Individually, Austin McDermaid (Oakland) maintained her lead from the first day and captured the individual title after firing off a two-day total of 154, while Katie Gallagher (Dayton) tied for fourth with a 161.

Detroit had three golfers place in the top 15 as former Titans Ashley Hamilton (162) and Mandi Dupuis (167) place sixth and 10th, respectively. UDM senior Rachel McHenry (Livonia, MI) rounded out the top three Titans as she shot an 86 and an 82 to finish in a tie for 13th with a total score of 168.

Earlier this season, the Titans placed third at the Chicago State Invitational (Sept. 7) with a team score of 328 and then ended in a tie for 10th at the Wolverine Invitational a week later with a combined score of 321.

Following the Titan Invitational, the next and final Fall competition for the Detroit Titans is the Dayton Invite in Ohio on Oct. 27-28.
