Through two games, Detroit is averaging 73.5 ppg. Sophomore Chase Simon leads the team in scoring at 19.5 points per game, including a team-high 22 points against Western Michigan his last time out. Simon is showcasing an all-around offensive game shooting 45% (11-24) from the field, 46% (6-13) from three and 78% (11-14) from the free-throw line.

Sophomore Eli Holman tops the team in rebounding at 9.5 per game and is second on the squad with 15.5 ppg. Against WMU, he collected his first career double-double with career highs in points (16) and boards (12). Holman also has the only five blocks on the year for Detroit.

UDM TO PARTICIPATE IN 2009 2K SPORTS CLASSIC
Detroit will kick-off its season early this year by participating in the 2009 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer. UDM opened the event on the west coast against nationally-ranked California in the regional round, and will now head to Albany, NY, for the subregionals where they will face Robert Morris, Albany and Alcorn State.

In return, UDM will participate in the event next season by once again playing a “high caliber” team on the road in the regional round, but this time hosting a subregional with three home games.

DO I KNOW YOU?
The Albany subregional will have the Titans facing three teams that they have never played before. A little info on the teams is listed below.

Robert Morris - From the Northeast Conference (NEC), last season the Colonials earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament after finishing first in the regular season and winning the conference tournament. They closed out the 2009 season with a 24-11 record and were picked to finish tied for third in the NEC pre-season poll.

Albany - Part of the America East conference, the Great Danes were 15-16 a year ago, but 10-4 at home. They have made the NCAA Tournament twice in the last four years and were picked to finish third in the annual pre-season poll.

Alcorn State - A member of the South West Athletic Conference (SWAC), Alcorn State was 6-25 a year ago, but the Braves do feature two student-athletes from Michigan in freshmen Jamar Ragland (Detroit/Loyola HS) and Michael Martin (West Bloomfield/West Bloomfield HS).

HIGH OCTANE OFFENSE
The 86 points scored by UDM against WMU in its home opener was the highest scoring game since netting 92 at Buffalo in 2007, and the most points scored at home since tallying 91 against Milwaukee in the same season.

In the game against the Broncos, Detroit shot 51% (12-of-51) from the field and 47% (11-of-23) from the three-point line.

Last year, the Titan season-high in points was 78.

Through two games, Detroit is averaging 73.5 ppg., and shooting 42% from the field and 36% from three-point range, compared to all of last season where the Titans averaged 56.5 ppg., and hit just 27% from behind the arc.

TEAM PLAY
Detroit's offense is definitely moving the ball and seeing the open man more this season shown by accumulating 32 assists on its 46 made field goals.

Senior Woody Payne leads the team with 4.0 assists per game, while junior Xavier Keeling is tallying 3.5, sophomore Chase Simon 2.5 and Donavan Foster 2.0.
