(7-33, 3-14 HL) and Wright State (26-17, 12-6 HL) produced some offensive fireworks as both teams combined for 21 runs on 28 hits, but WSU prevailed Sunday, 14-7.

Junior Erica Houthoofd (Unionville, MI/Unionville Sebewaing Area) led the way with a season-high three hits going 3-for-4 with two runs and a RBI. Freshman Krissy Pitock (Carleton, MI/Carleton-Airport) also posted a season high and personal best hitting 2-for-3 with two runs. Sophomore Ellen Sinclair (Chatham, ON/Chatham-Kent) also went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run while senior Jacqueline Nortman (Groves, TX/Monsignor. Wright State was led by sophomores Louie Haney and Lindsay Barrett and junior Allison Cox, who each had three hits with a combined five RBI and five runs scored.

UDM took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Houthoofd singled to left center field and was driven home with a single to left field from Sinclair.

WSU tied the game in the second inning on a homer by Cox. The Raiders then added three more runs highlighted by a two-RBI triple from Bri Birl, who also scored on the play off a Titan throwing error to take a 4-1 lead.

The Raiders poured it on in the next frame with four more runs on five hits and and another UDM error to take a commanding 8-1 lead.

The Titans responded with two runs in the bottom half as Pitock and Nortman got aboard on back-to-back singles and were brought in by double from Sesoko and a ground out by Sinclair to pull closer at 8-3.

Wright State's offense continue to hit on all cylinders, adding two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth inning to move ahead 13-3. With the game being threatened to end due to the mercy rule, Detroit kept fighting and added three runs in the bottom half of the fifth to extend the game. Houthoofd plated Pitock from third with a single and was moved to second on a Sinclair single. Sophomore Kristin Sclater (Taylor, MI/Kennedy) then drew a walk to load the bases with two outs. Houthoofd scored on a wild pitch followed by Sinclair, who scored on a throwing error by the catcher on the same play, to cut WSU's lead to 13-6.

After WSU went ahead 14-6 in the sixth, Detroit got runners on first and second. Houthoofd then singled to score freshman Melissa Barrett (Taylor, MI/Kennedy) to cut the lead in half at 14-7 but Pitock was thrown out at home plate to end the threat.

The Titans hit the road for a Horizon League series against Green Bay beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 p.m.
