UDM Takes Seventh In First Spring Women's Golf Tourney

Final Standings

The Titan women's golfers climbed two spots in the standings on the final day and claimed seventh place Tuesday at the Don Benbow Invitational, their first action of the spring schedule.

The tournament, hosted by Butler, was contested at the Jacksonville Beach (FL) Golf Club.

The Titans improved by six shots over Monday's opening round to post a team score of 338 on Tuesday. That put Detroit (682) three shots ahead of the host Bulldogs in the final standings. The only other Horizon League team in the field, Youngstown State, claimed fifth place (660) in the 36-hole event, which was won by Houston Baptist.

Senior Rachel McHenry (Livonia, MI/Stevenson) was the top Titan finisher for the tournament, tying for 24th place with an 83-84-167 score card. Alainna Stefan (Dearborn, MI/Mercy) was next in line for UDM as she shared 26th place (85-83-168). Marni Achterhoff (Muskegon, MI/Mona Shores) matched Stefan for the low Detroit round of the day and finished in a tie for 34th place (88-83-171).

The Titans return to action on Thursday when they play a dual match against Seminole State College prior to ending heading home from their spring break trip to Florida.
