It was a great day to be on the links as the UDM women's golf team made the short trek to Rochester Hills to take on Oakland in a dual match on Sunday.
The 36-hole event was held on both of OU's golf courses with the first 18 at the Par 72, 6,167 yard Katke-Cousins Golf Course and the final 18 at the R&S Sharf Golf Course (Par 72, 6105 yards).
The Titans would end up dropping the dual match to the Golden Grizzlies, 625-651.
“It was a fun event and we made some improvements in the final 18,” said head coach
Terri Anthony-Ryan. “Right now, it's all about practice and improving and getting ready for our next tournament.”
Detroit was led by senior
Alainna Stefan (Dearborn, MI/Mercy) who carded a 156 (80-76), tying for third overall on the day. Freshman
Christina Thorne (Kingston, ON/Bayridge) was right behind her totaling a 157 (80-77) for fifth, while another rookie
Lindsey Lammers (Milan, MI/Milan) was sixth with a 163 (80-83).
The Titans will have three weeks of practice before they travel to Akron, OH, to take part in the Zippy Invitational on Oct. 11.
