KISSIMMEE, Fla. - On the final day of play from the Rebel Spring Games, Detroit took a win and a loss splitting games in four of the five days in the Sunshine State.
The Titans fell 9-1 to Sacred Heart in the first game on Saturday, but ended the Florida trip with a 5-1 win over Lafayette in the second match-up as Detroit moved to 4-6 on the year.
In the opening game, the Titans fell behind 2-1 after five and 4-1 after six innings of action. Sacred Heart would add five more in the seventh to take the game.
In the final match of the day, Detroit was determined to get a win and a big freshman bat helped the team do just that.
Erin Huddleston (Normal, IL/Normal West) broke open a close game with a three-run home run in the sixth inning to give the Titans a 5-1 lead. Detroit would shut down the Leopards the rest of the way to pick up the win.
The Titans return to action on Mar. 20 as Saginaw Valley visits Buysse Ballpark for a doubleheader starting at noon.
