HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- It came down to the back nine in the final round of play, but the Detroit women's golf team was just not able to take back the lead as the Titans placed second at the Horizon League Championship, which came to an end on Sunday from the Mission Inn Resort.

The Titans finished with a 983 total (326-328-329), eight strokes behind Butler. UDM began the final round just four shots in back of the Bulldogs and pulled within two at one point on the back nine, but that was as close as it got. Loyola was third with a 1000 (329-341-330), while Cleveland State took fourth posting a team score of 1004 (338-332-334).

Senior Alainna Stefan (Dearborn, MI/Mercy) earned All-Tournament honors for the second-straight year as the Titan finished fourth with a 238 (75-81-82). Stefan led all golfers on the par 5's, going two under and playing to a 4.87 average. She was also third on the par 4's with a 4.41 tally.

Freshman Lindsey Lammers (Milan, MI/Milan) took 10th on the weekend with a 248 (89-79-80). The rookie also tied her senior teammate Stefan for the most birdies in the field with nine.

Two other Titans were in the top 15 as senior Marni Achterhoff (Muskegon, MI/Mona Shores) and sophomore Collette Hansen (West Olive, MI/Grand Haven) finished tied for 13th with a 251.

The runner-up finish marked the fifth-straight year that Detroit placed in the top three at the league championship.
