DETROIT-- The teams beat the rain, but the Bulldogs were the victor on the scoreboard following a cold, 11-1 five-inning game at Detroit's Buysse Ballpark Sunday. The contest was the finale of a three-game set between the schools.
BU (16-11, 4-1 Horizon League) scored a pair of runs in the first inning, but it was the third inning in which the Dogs began to flex their muscle. Erin Falkenberry homered to center and then added two-run and three-run shots in consecutive innings to power the Bulldog offensive attack.
It was a 4-0 game through three innings until the visitors tallied seven runs over the final two frames.
Whitney Stratton extended her hitting streak to nine straight by beating out an infield hit in her final at bat. Stratton is hitting 9-for-22 (.409) during her streak, raising her batting average to .261 in that week's span.
Detroit (4-18, 0-6 HL) will conclude its homestand Tuesday with a doubleheader against non-conference for Canisius, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The games will be the final games at Buysse Ballpark for a 25-day stretch that will see the Titans play 13 straight on the road.
