NASHPORT, Ohio (10/16/2012) -- Junior
Christina Thorne led the Titans with a 37th-place effort as the UDM women's golf team concluded its play at the MAC Preview.
“We grinded it out there,” said head coach
Terri Anthony-Ryan. “We only had four players so there was no wiggle room. The most important thing is that we need to learn from our mistakes and improve from here.”
The two-round event was contested at the 7243-yard, Par 72 Longaberger Golf Club, one of the top public courses in the state of Ohio as stated by Golf Week.
Detroit carded a 337 for the second-straight day to end with a 674.
Thorne improved on her play from round one by tallying an 80 for a 162 (82, 80) card and a share of 37th place. Her 80 was also the best round in the tournament for the red, white and blue.
Sophomore
Olivia Richards lowered her first round score to post an 82 for a 166 (84, 82) total and a tie for 57th, while senior
Collette Hansen also rebounded from round one to shoot an 81, tying for 65th with a 168 (87, 81).
The Titans will have one more event left in the fall as Detroit will head to Dayton, Ohio, for the UD Invitational on Oct. 22-23. The tournament is a combined one with the men as the women will play on the NCR Country Club's North Course, while the men will be on the South Course.
