DETROIT, Mich.-- Valparaiso closed out a three-game set with a 9-1 win over host Detroit Sunday afternoon at Buysse Ballpark.  The Crusaders' Alex Legesse used an efficient 53 pitches in earning her eighth win of the season.

Valpo (17-9) scored runs in each of the first three innings to get out to an early lead Sunday.  It would be more than enough for Lagesse, who faced just one batter over the minimum and induced nine groundouts.

Sara Cupp-- as she did yesterday-- homered in her first at bat to give her a team-leading four on the season.  She powered a ball over the left-centerfield fence, driving in her 16th run-- also a team best.

Rachel Copple had the other Detroit on the afternoon, beating out an infield single in the fourth.

Detroit continues its homestand Tuesday with a non-conference doubleheader against Central Michigan.  First pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m. at Buysse Ballpark.
