LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The women's track and field team was in competition at Christy Mathewson Stadium on the campus of Bucknell University and the team was looking to continue to improve on personal records at the Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday and Sunday.
Sarah Martinez and
Ciara Curley-Poppe both set new personal bests in the 1500m race. Martinez finished with a time of 4:57.98 and Curley-Poppe won her heat clocking in at 4:48.80 and moving into the #10 all-time best mark. Curley-Poppe added another PR, and a second heat win, in the 800m with a 2:19.58 mark.
In the 3000m steeplechase,
Zeinab Baydoun made her debut in the event after previously running in the 1500m and 2000m runs. She timed in at 11:22.79 placing fourth in her heat and setting a new Titan best claiming the new #3 mark.
In the women's 5000m run,
Katrina Oberski set a new PR with a time of 18:21.08 and nearly broke into the Titan top 10 just missing the #10 mark (18:18.96) by a slim margin.
In the women's 100m hurdles,
Brandee Hart 14.94 set a new PR narrowly topping her mark set at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships last year of 14.98. She had a second PR in the 400m with a time of 1:06.15.
In the 400m dash,
Hana Hunt (1:01.20) captured a win in her heat as
Shannon Marchant (1:02.65) and
Amanda Campbell (1:04.56) were just behind her and
Malita Rutherford (1:01.63) was close to their times in a second heat.
In the 100m,
Nicole Meisner had a time of 12.45 which saw her finish first in her heat and
Nikia Duncan who ran a 12.32 and placed seventh overall. In the 200m dash, Meisner and Duncan were in the same heat and Duncan had the edge at 25.55 with Meisner at 25.67. Last week at the Oakland-Detroit Dual saw Meisner and Duncan finish one-two in the 200m.
This week, the 4x400m Detroit relay team of Hart, Duncan, Rutherford and Meisner record a time of 3:58.38 while the 4x100m relay squad of Duncan, Hart,
Whitney Rogers, and Meisner secured a 49.47 time.
In the discus throw,
Allyson Koglin set the new #10 Titan mark at 126 feet, seven inches topping her flight. Koglin also had a 36 foot and one-quarter inch distance in the shot put that was just behind teammate
Stephanie Blanchard's 37-2.50.
In the 400m hurdles,
Olivia Smid set a new season-best with a 1:06.85 finish and Rogers had a triple jump attempt of 11.05m.
After this weekend, the Titans will head to Allendale to compete at the Al Owens Classic at Grand Valley State on April 20-21.
