YPSILANTI, Mich.--  Host Eastern Michigan posted a pair of wins over Detroit in a non-league twinbill at Varsity Field Tuesday afternoon.  The Eagles won the opener 8-0 and took game two, 7-1.

GAME ONE
The teams cruised through the first few innings until the bottom of the third inning when Eastern (19-24) sent 12 batters to the plate and scored seven in that frame alone.

Detroit's (10-30) best opportunity came in the fifth inning.  Renee Zaccagni hit a perfectly placed single down the right field line to open the frame.  After a groundout, singles from Dani Holmes and Alyssa Schaub loaded the bases with one down.  EMU starter Jenna Ignowski then induced a groundout and got a strikeout to end the threat.

Henderson, Zaccagni, Holmes and Schaub had hits for Detroit in the opener.

Karyn McCarty suffered the loss, throwing 5.1 innings, allowing seven earned runs.

GAME TWO
Rachel Copple doubled to leadoff the fourth to put her one shy of cracking the top five for season two-baggers at Detroit.  She is three away from Debbie Harlukowicz's record of 14, set back in 1991.  After she advanced to third on a groundout, Shelby Long cashed her in with a single to left for a 4-1 EMU advantage.  It was Long's seventh RBI in her last six starts.

The Titan highlight of the nightcap was Dani Holmes, who made a pair of lunging catches to leadoff the fourth and fifth innings.  Eastern, who scored three in the third and another in the fourth, tacked on two in the fifth to garner a 7-1 advantage and took game two by that score.

Kat Hoffman took the loss after going four innings with four earned runs.  McCarty threw the final two innings, squandering a pair of runs.

Detroit finishes off the 2012 schedule with a dozen regular season games left on the docket, all in Horizon League play.  The Titans host Youngstown State in the final home series for a three-game set beginning Wednesday.  First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m. to start Wednesday's doubleheader and 3:30 p.m. is the start to Thursday's home finale.
