FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Junior Collette Hansen (West Olive, MI/Grand Haven) posted her fifth top-10 effort of the season as the Detroit women's golf team took eighth at the IPFW Spring Classic, played at the Par 71, 6,042-yard Pine Valley Country Club.

“It was not a great day, but one that we will learn from and move on,” said head coach Terri Anthony-Ryan. “I love the make-up of this team and this will only help us improve as we head into our home tournament next week and the Horizon League Tournament in a few weeks.”

Hansen finished the two-day, two-round event with an 82 on Tuesday to share sixth place with a 161 (79, 82). She was just three shots off the lead and tied for second in the field in birdies (3) and third with 16 pars. She was also second in the field on the course's Par 5's with a 1-under, 4.83 average.

“Collette continues to show her true leadership by stepping up with Lindsey (Lammers) out,” said Ryan. “She did not have a great day today, but she hung in there and was still just a few shots off the lead.”

Sophomore Christina Thorne (Kingston, ON/Bayridge) shared 31st with a 174 (83, 91), while junior Allison Sears (Clio, MI/Powers) carded a 176 (82, 94) for 37th.

As a team, the Titans shot a 351 on the final 18 to finish with a 685 (334, 351).

The Titans will look to shake this tournament off as they return home to host the Detroit Titans Invitational at the Western Golf & Country Club in Redford. The 36-hole event will begin on Monday, April 9, and conclude with the final 18 on Tuesday.
