Austin Eccleton has come on during the spring season after playing in just one tournament in the fall. He recently posted his best round and best 54-hole tournament score in a tough field at Indiana and is vying for a chance to play in the Horizon League Championship as a freshman. Here is a bit more on the rookie who ended his prep career in grand style.
What is the best part of your game and what do you need to improve on the most?
The best part of my game is my putting, and the part of my game that needs improvement is my driving accuracy.
What is the best course you have ever played on?
The best course I've ever played is the Nicklaus course at PGA National in West Palm Beach, Florida.
What are some of the clubs in your bag?
In my bag currently, I have the Titleist 913 D3 Driver, Titleist 913 FD, Titleist AP2 Irons, Titleist Vokey wedges, and Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter.
Earliest memories of playing golf?
Earliest memories playing golf was at my 9 hole course Willow Creek in Stockbridge, Michigan, where I learned to play and spent my summers when I was younger.
Most memorable shot?
It would be my last hole of high school golf at our state finals at Forest Akers East. I made a 15-foot putt for eagle.

I don't leave the putting green on a miss.

I like to play hockey and hang out with friends
Why did you choose the University of Detroit Mercy?
I chose Detroit to play on the golf team and pursue a business degree.
