UDM Gears Up For Trip To Indy

Sophomore Ryan Kruschka and the Titans will have a busy upcoming schedule starting with Butler.
DETROIT (3/26/2026) -- A stretch of three tournaments in three weeks will start with the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team in Indianapolis for Butler's Don Benbow Spring Invitational.

The two-day, three-round event will have 36 holes on Monday, Mar. 30, and the final 18 on Tuesday at the par 70, 6,551-yard Highland Golf and Country Club in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The field will have the host Bulldogs, Evansville, Green Bay, Indian Hills, IU Indy, Oakland, Purdue Fort Wayne, Robert Morris, SIUE, Southern Indiana, and Youngstown State, while Ball State, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, and West Virginia will have individuals. 

UDM has competed in the tournament in four straight years and five times since 2019. Last year, the Titans were 11th with an 875 (293-291-291) as Mason Sokolowski tallied a career-best 212 (72-69-71) for 16th. In 2022, the red, white and blue shared fourth with a 581 (292-289) and had the individual winner in James Hill, who tied for first with a 139 (69-70) and was deemed the medalist in a scorecard playoff. 

The Titans started their spring by taking 12th at Georgia Southern's Southern Intercollegiate with a 636 (310-326). Sokolowski also led the team there, shooting a 157 (76-81) for 40th.

Freshman Peyton Lawley leads the team with a 76.08 average in 12 rounds, while Sokolowski is second at 76.14 in 14 rounds out on the links.
