DETROIT (4/21/13) – The Detroit softball team dropped the series finale to Valparaiso, 17-0 (5 inn.), Sunday afternoon at Buysse ballpark.
 
Anna Bondy pitched four innings in relief and did not allow an earned run and struck out a pair of batters. Alyssa Schaub hit a double in the bottom of the first and Christa McGahuey singled in the bottom of the second but they were the only two hits for Detroit on the day.
 
Valpo (23-21, 8-7 HL) scored 12 runs on eight hits in the top of the first and added two more in the third and fifth innings and another run in the fourth inning for a total of 17 runs on nine hits.
 
Detroit falls to 5-37 (2-13 HL) and will continue conference play when it travels to Wright state for a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
