NORMAN, Okla. (5/11/2013) -- It was the final day of the NCAA Central Regional Championship at Oklahoma's Jimmie Austin Golf Club and junior
Christina Thorne was the top individual finisher for the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team with a score of 227 over the three-day tournament.
Thorne finished with a 74 on the final day placing in a tie for 68
th overall.
As a team, UDM finished the tournament in a tie for 23
rd place with a total score of 952.
Other Titan scores included sophomore
Olivia Richards at 237, junior
Lindsey Lammers at 241 overall, and senior
Allison Sears a score of 248 and senior
Collette Hansen carding a 259.
The Titan season might have come to an end, but it was an historic one.
Detroit tied what is believed to be a NCAA record with nine titles in just 12 events (Arizona had nine during 1999-2000). UDM had five medalist honorees in those tournaments and collected a truck load of awards with three players selected All-Horizon League and four earning HL All-Tournament honors.
