DETROIT (5/1/2013) --The Detroit Titans will host the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the culmination of the 2013 campaign. The outdoor men's and women's track and field teams will host the event starting Friday and continuing through Sunday at Eastern Michigan's Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

It will be the first time the Titans will ever host the outdoor championships. Detroit served as hosts for the 2001, 2007, and 2010 HL Indoor Championships in Ann Arbor. UDM's cross country team also hosted the conference championships in 1990, 1999, and 2009.

Women's teams from Detroit, Milwaukee, Youngstown State, Loyola, UIC, Wright State, and Valparaiso will all be in Ypsilanti this weekend while Detroit, Milwaukee, Youngstown State, Loyola, UIC, and Valparaiso will compete on the men's side.

The Youngstown State women and the Milwaukee men are the defending champions in the outdoor conference championships while Loyola swept the men's and women's indoor conference championships in February.

The Titans are coming off last week's competition that saw Titans in four different meets. The men's team was at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, the Hillsdale Relays in Hillsdale and the Lyle Bennett Open that was hosted by Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant. The women's team was at Hillsdale and Central Michigan competing in those two events.
