Neary, Otten, Clark Selected To Valeo Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Teams

Joshua Neary (L), Joshua Otten (C) and Jada Clark (R) were all named to the HL All-Academic Team.
INDIANAPOLIS (3/19/2026) -- The University of Detroit Mercy track and field programs saw three Titans selected to the Valeo Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Teams on Thursday.

Senior Joshua Otten and junior Joshua Neary earned the honor on the men's side, and senior Jada Clark was chosen on the women's team.

For Otten and Neary, it is the second-straight year they have received the honor for the indoor campaign, while Clark was named for the first time in her career.

An English and Political Science major, Otten is now a seven-time member of All-Academic Teams between indoor and outdoor track and field and cross country. He scored for the Titans at the HL Championship, taking fourth in the mile in a career-best 4:11.49, sixth in school history, and was also on the sixth-place 4x400 and seventh-place distance medley relay.

Neary, a Business major, scored in the heptathlon at the HL Championships by finishing eighth. He set personal records in the pole vault and 1,000 meters in the event.

Another Business major, Clark was eighth for Detroit Mercy in the heptathlon at the league championships. She posted PR's in the shot put, long jump, and 800 meters, competing as a multi-athlete for the first time in her career.

A total of 35 student-athletes were named to the All-Academic Team, while 15 more were tabbed as honorable mentions in balloting by the League's faculty athletics representatives. The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League teams in each of its 19 championship sports.

To be eligible for Horizon League's All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.

An Honorable Mention is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.
