PORT CLINTON, Ohio (10/14/2014) -- Two Titans claimed spots in the top 20 as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team concluded play at the Rocket Classic on Tuesday.

The 54-hole event was hosted by Toledo at the Par 72, 5,884-yard Catawba Island Club.

Detroit finished in seventh place with a 972 (322-320-330) score, just 11 shots off of fifth place and ahead of the other two Horizon League schools in the tournament in Cleveland State and Valparaiso. The 972 was a season best for a 54-hole tournament and tied for eighth in school history.

Senior
Olivia Richards led the way tying for 12th with a 234 (80-79-75), just two strokes away from her career low. The captain of the team improved in every round ending Tuesday with a 3-over 75. She tallied 12 pars and two birdies on the final 18 and led Detroit with 35 pars in the tournament – the fourth most out of the competition.

Sophomore
Sarah Thompson tied for 20th with a career-best 237 (76-78-83), her seventh career top-20 effort. She knocked in eight pars and had a birdie in round three and was tied for first on the squad with four birdies overall, while putting in 30 total pars.

Senior
Jessica Mallender posted a career-low 249 (78-82-89) for a share of 45th place. She had seven pars on the day and tied for the team lead with four birdies in the event.

Sophomore
Alexandra LeBlanc tied for 59th with a 256 (89-81-86), while sophomore
Brooke Sharpe carded a season-low 265 (88-91-86) for 68th.

Detroit will now get ready for its final fall event when the red, white and blue travel to Kettering, Ohio, to compete in the Dayton Fall Invitational from Oct. 20-21.Â
