Flossmoor, Ill. (9/22/2014) -- Sophomore
Sarah Thompson posted a new career low en route to second place as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team concluded play in the season-opening Loyola Fall Invitational on Tuesday, held at the Par 73, 6,086-yard Flossmoor Country Club.
Thompson came into the last round in third place and was able to move up to second for her highest finish ever at the collegiate level and her third top-10 finish in her career. She tallied a 79 on the final 18 and totaled a career-best 239 (80-80-79), just five shots in back of the leader.

Olivia Richards recorded her 16th career top-10 effort as she placed fifth with a 244 (76-82-86), while sophomore
Alexandra LeBlanc tied for 19th in her Titan debut with a 255 (84-85-86).

Jessica Mallender shared 26th with a 257 (85-81-91) and sophomore
Brooke Sharpe took 26th with a 266 (89-85-92) in her first career 54-hole tournament.
As a team, Detroit was third in the five-team field tallying a 995 (325-328-342), just four strokes out of second.
The Titans will be right back in action this weekend as they make the short trip to Rochester to compete in the Oakland Invitational, held from Sept. 27-28, at the Katke-Cousins Golf Course.
