ALLENDALE, Mich. (2/20/2015) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team competed in its final regular-season meet prior to the Horizon League Indoor Championships on Friday, participating in the GVSU Tune-Up.
No team results were recorded at the meet, which featured several other Division I programs.
Junior sprinter
Alani Letang won the 400 meter dash over 20 other runners with a time of 58.07. The Titans had four in the top 10 in the event as freshman
Brogan Holmes (59.74) finished seventh, sophomore
Jayona Dent (59.89) placed eighth and freshman
Elizabeth Mullen (1:00.07) crossed in 10th place.
The Titans placed second in the 4x400 meter relay. The quartet of Dent, Holmes, Mullen and Letang finished in a time of 4:04.97.
Sophomore
Natalie Peterson competed in the 60 meter hurdles for the Titans, placing eighth with a time of 9.59. Freshman
Alyson Hamilton was the top finisher for Detroit in the 60 meter dash, earning a PR with a time of 8.14. Hamilton and Peterson finished 10th and 11th, respectively, in the 200 meter dash with times of 27.23 and 27.66.
Freshman
Sydnie Fetherolf set a PR in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:18.95, to finish sixth. Sophomore
Samantha Zakalowski placed 10th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:23.56.
Three Titans ran in the 1 mile run.
Taylor Smith had a new PR in a time of 5:20.16, senior
Sara Taylor crossed in 5:21.22 and senior
Zeinab Baydoun finished with a time of 5:23.24 for a new PR.
Sophomore

Jenny Ponkowski had a time of 11:06.61 in the 3,000 meter run, while classmate
Sydney Shaw in 11:26.79, setting a new PR by nearly 10 seconds in the 3,000 meters.
Sophomore
Paige Anderson's best leap of 4.81 meters (15' 9.5") placed her 10th in the long jump.
The Titans will compete in the 2015 Horizon League Indoor Championships next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28 and March 1 at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio.
