LAKE MARY, Fla. (3/10/15) -- A pair of Titans were in the top 40 as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team ended its spring break competition at the Seminole State Spring Break Invitational on Wednesday, held at the Par 72, 6,152 yard Timacuan Golf and Country Club.
Detroit posted a 340 on the final 18 holes of action to finish with a 675 (335-340). Host Seminole State College came back to overtake Appalachian State for the victory with a 610.
Sophomore
Sarah Thompson had the best round of the event with a 165 (84-81) for a share of 26th place. The 165 was four shots better than her mark as a freshman in the same event.
Sophomore
Brooke Sharpe was the second Titan in the clubhouse tallying a career-low 168 (81-87), tying for 38th place, which included a career-low 81 in the first round.
Playing as an individual, sophomore
Sarah Montone had the second best score on the day shooting an 83 and totaled a 170 (87-83) in tying for 41st.
Senior
Olivia Richards carded a 171 (84-87) to share 43rd and seniors
Jessica Mallender and
Rebecca Mallender tied for 51st after recording a 173. For Rebecca, it was a new career low as was her 86 in the second round.
Detroit will have a couple of weeks off before it heads back out on the course at the Butler Spring Invitational, held at the Prestwick Golf Course in Avon, Indiana, from March 22-23.
