INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (2/16/16) – University of Detroit Mercy standout sophomore men's track and field student-athlete
Ben Kendell was named the Horizon League's Co-Runner of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Kendell set a personal record and improved his all-time Detroit record in the 5,000-meter run from the GVSU Big Meet with a time of 14:21.69. He shaved more than 15 seconds off his previous indoor best of 14:37 and topped his outdoor record of 14:22.39.
The Huntington Woods, Mich. native finished in fifth place among more than 150 competitors and was the third runner among the collegiate ranks to cross the line.
Kendell is now the top Titan all-time in the 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000-meter runs.
The Horizon League accolade is the third of his track and field career and first of the season.
The Titans return to action this weekend for the GVSU Tune-Up and will compete in the Horizon League Indoor Championships Feb. 27-28.
