MALVERN, Pa. (3/29/2016) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team tallied one of the best rounds in the tournament as the Titans concluded play at Villanova's Wildcat Invitational on Tuesday.
Detroit posted a 297 in round two, tied for the fourth-best round in the entire event as UDM tied for ninth overall with a 605 (308-297). The Titans finished just five shots out of third and eight behind first at the Par 71, 7,055-yard White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
Sophomore
Eric Macrow led Detroit for the second-straight outing sharing 11th with a career-low 148 after recording another 3-over 74 in round two. Senior
Josh Shaw tied for 25th with a 151 (77-74) as he carded a 3-over 74 on the final 18, while junior
Kyle Gaines tied for 37th with a 172 (77-75).
Detroit will get right back on the course this weekend as the red, white and blue compete in the NYX Hoosier Invitational from April 2-3.

SLOW START, FAST FINISH
- Macrow bogeyed his first hole in round one and was 2-over through five before playing the rest of the round at 1-over. On Tuesday, Macrow started slow again with three bogeys in his first five holes, but ended the day 1-under on the final 13 with three birdies and seven pars.
- Macrow also led Detroit for the second-straight event and tallied his third straight top-11 finish.
- He also tallied a career-low 148, eclipsing the 150 he shot in the fall at the Dayton Flyer Invitational.
STATWISE
- Eric Macrow and Josh Shaw tied for the team lead with five birdies apiece.
- Kyle Gaines and Eric Marcow shared the team lead with 21 pars, and the team finished tied for seventh with 18 total birdies.
- Detroit led the field on the course's Par 5's with a -5, 4.83 average.
EAGLE MANIA
- Detroit was one of two teams in the event (Siena) to post a pair of eagles.
- Both Wil Wittmann and Josh Shaw knocked in their third shot on the Par 5 17th hole.

NEXT TIME OUT
- The Titans will play in a familiar tournament in the NYX Hoosier Invitational from April 2-3 at the Indiana University Golf Course. It will be the sixth time UDM will play in an IU event in the last six years.
