OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (4/12/2016) -- Senior 
Wil Wittmann led a pair of Titans in the top 20 as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team ended the Big Blue Intercollegiate in sixth place on Tuesday.
Originally scheduled for 54 holes, the event was cut to 36 due to weather on the Par-72, 7,157 yard President's Reserve Course at Hermitage Golf Club.
Detroit posted a 301 on Tuesday and finished the tournament with a 598 (297-301), tying its season low for a two-round affair. UDM was just a few strokes out of fifth and seven shy of third.
Wittmann had the best score for a Titan player in the event as he carded a 1-under 71 in round two to help him share 11th with a 146 (75-71). His under par round was one of just 12 in the entire tournament. He recorded a -3, 4.63 average on the course's Par 5's, tied for fifth in the event, and he was also one of four Titans to post a team-high 24 pars with five birdies. 
Senior 
Josh Shaw totaled a career-low 148 (72-76) as he tied for 17th. He also registered 24 pars and was the best UDM performer on the Par 4's tying for eighth among the competition with a +1, 4.05 mark.
Junior 
Kyle Gaines tallied 24 pars and tied for 22nd with a 149 (74-75) while playing as an individual, redshirt junior 
David Thompson shared 43rd with a career-best 154 (75-79).
The red, white and blue will have one more tournament to get ready for the Horizon League Championship as Detroit takes part in the Battle at the Warren, hosted by Notre Dame at the Warren Golf Club on Saturday, April 16.
