CLEVELAND, Ohio (1/23/2017) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's fencing team continued its dual meet schedule on Saturday, fencing at the Cleveland State Duals. The Titans earned one victory as a team, over McKendree, finishing 1-4 as a team on the day.
Detroit Mercy picked up a 15-12 win over McKendree. The Titans fell to Vassar (0-27), Case Western Reserve (5-22), Michigan (2-25) and Cleveland State (9-12).
The sabre team led the way on the day, totaling 13 bout victories. Both
Savannah Lee and
Erica Tessmer had five bout wins, sporting records of 5-10.
Nicole Fitch added three victories to the weapon.
In the foil,
Danielle Spencer earned three wins for the Titans, while
Kellie Hurst added two more bout triumphs.
Chanel Lindsay had one win for Detroit Mercy in the epee.
The Titans next compete competitively on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the DeCicco Duals on the campus of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
