SOUTH BEND, Ind. (1/30/2017) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's fencing team went against top competition on Saturday from the DeCicco Duals, hosted by the University of Notre Dame in South Bend.
The Titans fenced against two of the top-10 teams in the NCAA in Northwestern and the host Fighting Irish. Detroit Mercy went 0-4 as a team Saturday, falling to No. 3-ranked Notre Dame (27-0), Lawrence (21-3), No. 9-ranked Northwestern (27-0) and Florida (20-7).

Danielle Spencer (foil) each picked up three victories for the Titans during the day of competition. Tessmer and freshman
Savannah Lee each went 2-1 against Florida. Tessmer finished the day with a 3-8 record.
Spencer also went 2-1 against Florida in the foil and totaled a 3-9 mark on Saturday. Freshman
Kellie Hurst earned two more victories in the foil for the Titans.Â
