WINTER GARDEN, Fla. (2/7/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team is back from Sunny Florida as the Titans ended the first Motor City Cup this week.
"We had a lot of positives out there, but there are areas we need to improve," said head coach
Terri Anthony-Ryan. "From a team perspective, it was great to go down and compete at this time of the year. We have a young team and just getting a chance to play will help everyone improve."
The Titans co-hosted the event with Oakland and also featured Horizon League-rival Cleveland State at the Par 62, 6,020-yard Crooked Cat Golf Course in Winter Garden, Florida.
Detroit Mercy totaled five points in the two-day match play event and took several other matches to the 16th hole or better.
"I thought Kendall (Payne), Alexa (Hatz) and Erica (Heath) really played well and with a team that has almost five new players in its line-up, every competition they see action in will benefit us in the long run," added coach Ryan. Â
The red, white and blue will be back on the links in a month as the Titans head down to Florida again for the Seminole State Spring Break Invite from March 5-7. Â
