HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. (4/24/2018) -- A pair of freshmen led the way for the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team as the Titans ended play at the Horizon League Championship on Tuesday.
Detroit Mercy finished in eighth with a 1,008 (331-331-346) at the par 73, 6,171-yard Las Colinas Course at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.
Freshmen
Alexa Hatz and
Shana Murphy shared 16th overall with a 248, while redshirt freshmen
Kendall Payne was just outside the top 20 tying for 22nd with a 251.

Here is a recap of the action at the Horizon League Championship:
- The Titans had four starters who had never played on the course before
- The Titans were one of four teams in the tournament to tally an eagle
- Murphy led the team with 26 pars, while Payne had 24
- Hatz and Murphy each knocked in a team-high four birdies
- Hatz tied for seventh in the field with a +2, 5.13 average on the course's par 5's
- Hatz knocked in the only eagle for the team in the second round on the par 5 14th hole
- Murphy's 248 was a season low as was the 4-over 77 she shot in round one
- Payne's 251 was a new career best over the 259 she had at the NKU Fall Classic
