DETROIT (2/11/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's fencing squad wrapped up the dual portion of its season Saturday at Wayne State University in nearby downtown Detroit. The Titans went 0-4 as a squad against Michigan, Michigan State, Denison and the host Warriors.

Manal Shaito and junior
Danielle Spencer combined for 15 bout victories. Shaito went 9-3 in foil, while Spencer earned six victories for the red, white and blue. As a weapon, the two were 15-9 overall. Shaito went 3-0 against both Denison and Michigan State, while Spencer was 3-0 against MSU and 2-1 over Denison.
In sabre, junior
Savannah Lee went 6-6 for the Titans with freshman
Justine Hickey adding two bout victories. Senior
Alex Zimmerman added four bout victories on Saturday, three of them coming in epee.
After the dual meet season, Shaito leads the Titans with a season record of 53-25.

Detroit Mercy returns to competition on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23-24, traveling to Columbus, Ohio for the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships, held on the campus of Ohio State University. Individual Titans then head to the NCAA Midwest Regionals on Saturday, March 9, held in South Bend, Ind. at Notre Dame.
