Titans Host Jaguars for Pink Game, National Girls & Women in Sports Day

DETROIT (2/15/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team closes a three-game homestand Saturday, hosting IUPUI for a 1 p.m. contest from Calihan Hall. The game against the Jaguars is the Titans' Pink Game as well as the National Girls & Women in Sports Day. The Titans are coming off a Thursday night win over UIC.

Proceeds from the Pink Game are set to go to Gilda's Club, a cancer support organization based in nearby Royal Oak. The Titans have raised money for Gilda's Club with their Pink Game in all three previous years under head coach Bernard Scott, helping raise more than $7,000. The Titans are looking to raise more than $5,000 in this year's game against IUPUI. Donations may be made at any Titan basketball home game in February and fans may also buy raffle tickets for Pink Game items.

Between 150-200 kids are expected for National Girls & Women in Sports Day. Tori Petry, a journalist with the Detroit Lions, is set to be the guest speaker to open the event at 10 a.m. from Calihan Hall. Registration for NGWSD begins at 9 a.m. Admission into the game is FREE.
