YPSILANTI, Mich. (10/4/2022) -- It was a special day for University of Detroit Mercy freshman
Kyla Charlebois as she knocked in her first-ever ace in the final round of Eastern Michigan's Shirley Spork Invitational on Tuesday.
Coming off a double bogey on hole five, Charlebois stepped up to the 133-yard par 3 sixth hole, and her tee shot hit the green and made the magic ride to the bottom of the cup.
"I wasn't really thinking anything. I got my yardage and picked my eight iron and hit it on the right side and hit the hill and it went in," said Charlebois. "I saw it rolling by the hole, but I thought it went past it, so I grabbed my wedge and my putter and I was walking up and one of the guys that was scoring said it went in."
That was part of an early season career day for the rookie as she tied for 54th with a 249 (86-84-79), which included her season-low 79 on the final 18. Along with the hole-in-one, she also had a birdie and seven pars.
