McKenna Tanguay and
Taryn Peru each hit 2-for-3 as Detroit Mercy dropped the series opener, 9-1, to visiting Green Bay on Friday afternoon at Buysse Ballpark.
Senior
Taylor Gauthier hit 1-for-3 for the third consecutive game with a run scored and stolen base while senior
Piper Roth and junior
Renee Trotman also each hit 1-for- 2.
Recap:
• Gauthier singled in the first inning and then stole second base. Peru singled and advanced to second on the throw while moving Gauthier over to third in the process.
• Gauthier then scored on a pass ball giving Detroit Mercy a 1-0 lead
• Green Bay scored three runs (one unearned) in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead
• The Phoenix added six runs on six hits to take a commanding 9-1 lead in the fifth inning
• The Titans got two runners on base in the bottom of the fifth inning but were unable to get a run across to extend the game
• For the game, Detroit Mercy left seven runner on base
Detroit Mercy and Green Bay will conclude the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 2 beginning on at noon
