Jordyn Chapman went 2-for-3 and delivered a clutch two-run double in the bottom of the fourth inning that propelled Detroit Mercy to 3-1 series-opening win over visiting UIC on Friday afternoon. Graduate student
Liz Murphy recorded her third complete game win of the season tossing 7.0 innings allowing only one run with two strikeouts.

McKenna Tanguay went 1-for-3 with a double. Senior
Liz Paver also hit 1-for-3 with an RBI single that gave the Titans an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Freshman
Jaiden Lara scored a run and was the third batter to go 1-for-3 while junior
Allison Smith hit 1-for-2.

• UIC (8-26, 5-12 HL) got their first run off a RBI triple in the seventh inning. Murphy was able to get the final batter to fly out to secure the win
